Dear Applewood Heights parents, guardians, students,
teachers and staff:
Applewood school council had an exciting and rewarding 2002-2003
school year and the following is an overview of the year.
First, I would like to extend a warm invitation to all of
you to attend school council meetings. They are an excellent
way to find out what is happening at our children’s
school. Everyone is welcome to attend meetings.
At our meetings we discuss school events, happenings and
issues, with a school wide perspective on school issues.
The school council acts as a link between the school and
community. The meetings are informal and provide a good

The council was involved in the following information nights

Port Credit family of schools.
The school council was also represented at several school
functions including: commencement and the grade 8 parent

The school council provided feedback to the Peel Board on:

The chair participated in the Peel Secondary School Council
Chairs group which was an excellent forum to share ideas
specific to Secondary School issues.
The council sent out a newsletter to parents with the December,
March and June report cards, as well as, the August 2003
information package. The newsletters contained information
about the council, invited all parents and guardians to
participate and included Applewood student success stories.
On behalf of the Applewood Heights school council, I would
like to thank the support and dedication of all the teachers
and staff at Applewood, as well as the students for making
the school proud. In particular, I would like to thank our
principal, Karen Guyatt for her hard work and commitment
to our children. This was Karen’s first year as principal
at Applewood and she proved her excellent leadership while
maintaining her warm and friendly manner.
Sincerely yours,
